Local Rotary clubs meet weekly to plan a wide variety of service activities based on local needs and the interests of its members. They also value this weekly opportunity for fellowship and fun.
Collectively, local Rotary clubs join under the banner of Rotary International to carry out some of the most dramatic and successful world service projects undertaken by any organization. For example:;
- Rotary has undertaken the challenge of eradicating polio worldwide. This 25 year odyssey will successfully eliminate polio by 2010. One of its most dramatic activities of this program was the immunization of 113 million children against polio in India – in a single day! The largest health initiative ever, by any organization anywhere!
Since 1927, students and host families all over the world have had their horizons broadened and their lives enriched by the generosity of Rotary's Youth Exchange program. The program today involves more than 82 countries and over 8,000 students each year.
Rotary clubs are nonreligious, non political, and open to men and women of every race, culture, and creed.
